General Facility Info
- What services do you offer?
Personal training is our primary service, but we offer a variety of services from rent-a-rack (reserving a space to work out yourself) to physical therapy to group classes, and everything in between. Our goal is to provide a one-stop-shop for your fitness and wellness needs. Check out our “Services” tab above for specific details about each service. - What are your hours?
We are open daily from 5am-10pm. It is a private facility, so the door will be locked at all times unless you have an access code for a gym time that you book for or have a trainer on staff that you are working with. - Are there specific hours for personal training?
This is all dependent on your availability - we will pair you with one of our trainers on staff based on that, amongst other things. - Are minors allowed to use the gym?
For safety reasons, minors are required to be accompanied by an adult at all times. Our facility is a self-service gym, so there may not be staff on-site when people rent the gym. If a minor is present, he/she is likely a client of a trainer or a guest of a parent who is training. - Is there a shower at the gym?
We do not have showers at our facility; However, we do have private bathrooms available for use. - Are there lockers available?
Yes, we do have lockers available to store your belongings. Clients will need to bring their own lock to secure their locker. - I am a beginner to working out - how do I choose between starting with personal training or group classes?
This is dependent on many factors, however here are the main differences:
Personal training allows for an individualized approach where your assigned coach will guide you through a program based on your current fitness levels and goals. On the other hand, group classes also allow for a tailored approach with no more than 6-8 participants per class, so instructors can be more hands on with each participant during. However, group classes are more general to the type of class that is being taught. Both are very strong options depending on your current needs.
Rent-a-Rack
- Do I need to be a member to book Rent-A-Rack?
No, you do not have to be a member to book a rent-a-rack session. - Can Rent-A-Rack memberships be used at either location?
Yes! You may interchange between the two locations. - I am a Wellhub user who is interested in gym rentals. How do I get started?
Amazing! Please contact us at info@genesistrainingllc.com , and we will forward you instructions on how to set up your account. With Wellhub, you are allowed 1 hour of gym rental per day. Once you sign up and reserve a time slot, you will automatically receive a unique code to enter the respective facility during the scheduled time. Please make sure you also check in on the Wellhub app when you arrive. - Can I tour the facility before committing to a membership?
Absolutely! You can refer to this page for a virtual tour of our downtown facility. To book an in-person tour of our Journal Square facility, please do so by clicking here.
Personal Training
- Do you train minors?
Yes, we do! We have trainers who are well-experienced in training the youth population, most commonly to enhance performance in sports and school PE class, as well as for overall health as they get older. We are advocates of starting training from a young age to stay well-rounded and decrease risk of injuries through sports or other life stressors. - What else is included in the training packages?
All of our training packages come with our private fitness app. This app allows your assigned trainer to keep you accountable outside of the gym by programming a routine for you to do when not with your trainer. You may also log your meals and check off habits/goals as they pertain to your fitness goals. - I have issues with [part of the body] - can I still do personal training?
Yes, our coaches are trained to modify movements as needed in order to make sure you are productive throughout your session without further aggravating any issues that you are experiencing.
The best is to book a discovery call with us to learn more and see if any of our services are a good fit for you.
If it is an issue where exercise is contraindicated, please refer to your doctor for medical clearance. We also have a Doctor of Physical Therapy on staff who can give you more assistance - check her out here.
Group Classes
- What type of group classes do you offer?
We offer a wide range of group classes, such as strength & conditioning, HIIT, postpartum, etc. Click here to check out the details. - How big are the group classes?
Group classes are limited to 6-8 participants maximum, depending on the nature of the class and room that is being used. With a small group, this offers a semi-private training approach where instructors can offer more personal modifications as needed throughout the class. - How do I register for a group class?
There are a couple of ways - the one we recommend the most is to do so directly through the Mindbody app and searching for “Genesis Training - Journal Square”. You can follow this simple video tutorial by clicking here. You can also go directly to our group class page, and pick the day/time/class that works best for you to register directly. - Can I cancel or reschedule my booking?
Yes, you can easily do so on the Mindbody app. We kindly ask that you do so 24 hours in advance to avoid a late cancellation / no-show fee. Please reach out to us if you have any questions or need assistance. - Do you offer group class memberships?
Yes, please check out our different offers here (insert link to the group class memberships boxes) - Do you offer group classes at Hive 1 (Downtown facility)?
We do not offer group classes at our downtown location at this time as it does not have the space to accommodate group classes. - How do I register for a group class?
Please visit our group class booking link here or do so directly on the Mindbody app here. - I have issues with [part of the body] - can I still join your fitness classes?
Yes, our coaches are trained to modify movements as needed in order to make sure you are productive throughout your session without further aggravating any issues that you are experiencing. Because our group classes are small, there is more room for the coach to individualize and correct form. Just let your instructor know before class starts.
If you are still unsure, the best is to book a discovery call with us to learn more and see if any of our services are a good fit for you.
If it is an issue where exercise is contraindicated, please refer to your doctor for medical clearance. We do have a Doctor of Physical Therapy on staff who can give you more assistance - check her out here.
Physical Therapy
- How does your physical therapy differ from traditional PT?
Unlike traditional physical therapy, which may emphasize more passive treatments (heat, ice, electrical stimulation, etc.), we focus more on building strength and performance by keeping you ACTIVELY involved to optimize movement patterns that support long-term health and recovery. - Who is a good candidate for strength-based physical therapy?
Anyone who is motivated to get better from acute or chronic injuries, be preventative of future injuries, and anyone who is willing to learn more about themselves and what they can achieve. - Do you accept insurance or HSA/FSA?
Imagine coming to physical therapy to do the same cookie-cutter exercises over and over, have a treatment plan that is tunnel-visioned on the exact area that is injured, and encourage you to milk all the visits you can out of your insurance. This is the exact opposite of our mission - we want to stay away from being limited in what we can do by insurance companies. Our business model allows us to take a HOLISTIC approach, aka treat you as a WHOLE. We highly encourage our clients to get better in the least amount of necessary sessions. Everyone should graduate from PT at some point, and our goal is to have you do so sooner than later to avoid spending unnecessary time. HOWEVER, we DO accept HSA/FSA and provide superbills for clients with out-of-network benefits. - How long do your sessions typically last?
Your evaluation and follow-up sessions will all be 1-hour long. This is all one-on-one with your dedicated physical therapist. You will never work with someone who is unqualified for any portion of your sessions. - How many sessions do people typically need?
Your physical therapist will make a recommendation based on the initial evaluation. However, most of our clients report feeling better and moving better within 4-8 sessions. - Why do I need to do an evaluation first?
This is a crucial time for us to look at the site of your symptoms and how it may relate to the rest of you. Our assessments pertain to the person as a whole. Within this first session, you will already learn more about yourself, discuss an exact plan with your PT of how to manage any symptoms and progress toward your goals, and take home exercises from the getgo.
